A simple blog to give you personal recommendations in the village of Tamariu in the Costa Brava.
Palanqui
The Palanqui is a family-owned restaurant on the promenade looking out over Tamariu beach. They are well known for their rices where they have a range of paellas and more but also offer a number of tapas, meat and fish dishes (and they know how to cook!). Personal recommendation: The lobster rice ‘caldoso’ – just unbeatable in terms of flavour. The monkish is also out of this world.

Royal
The Royal is an open dining area in the middle of the promenade. The team of staff, owners, waiters et all make this a delightful spot for lunch or dinner where you feel looked after. Personal recommendations include their meat croquets (some of the best we have tasted!), their marinera mussels and, if you’re coming with kids, their mar y montaña paella filled with chicken and sausages to keep the little ones happy (and prawns on top for the adults!).

Hotel Tamariu
Still in the family after so many years, the Hotel Tamariu is an institution and the team are dedicated to your enjoyment of it. Again, on the beach front, you can enjoy the sights either sat on the promenade of from the inside in their newly refurbished dining room and floor to ceiling windows. The menu has recently changed and offers a delightful stop over for lunch with delicious salads, tapas and light bites. Personal recommendation has to be their Tisana – a drink that is similar to Sangria but made with cava instead of wine – it is absolutely delicious… and deadly! Mossec
One of those you ‘wouldn’t know it if you didn’t know it was there’ kind of restaurants. A favourite among locals, the Mossec is in the backstreet of Tamariu and offers a totally different dining experience. It is so popular amongst those who live here due to their daily specials, friendly service and total feeling of community. It especially comes alive at night so, for those looking for the bar that closes at 3am in the quiet village of Tamariu, you have found it! Personal recommendations include the cheese croquettes, the octopus rice and their range of meat dishes, washing it down with a gin tonic when the bar gets going.

Dofi
Another family run business that has been feeding locals and visitors alike for many many years. Run and owned by a family of brothers, this restaurant takes dining back to its roots with simple, well executed dishes. Salads, meat, fish and the best view in the town.

Bar Ona
The Bar Ona is right on the edge of the beach front and is more relaxed than the previously mentioned restaurants. A real ‘bar’ feel that is refreshing when you need to feed the kids, have a drink and some tapas in a relaxed environment and also just fancy some home cooked, easy food like perfectly executed bagels, sandwiches and burgers. Personal recommendations include their pittas and pretty much any sandwich with a coffee at 10am before the town gets too busy.

La Pasta Pizzeria
Another family favourite, situated perfectly to allow the kids to roam in front of you without them disappearing off to the beach. Pizzas are great and made fresh in wood ovens and the team are incredibly friendly. We have never had a bad night out with the family here. Personal recommendations? Truffle or avocado pizzas and, of course, for the kids their Nutella (chocolate) pizza!
